Evaluation of the ENRICH Project
On the basis of the existing Manuscriptorium digital library, the foundations of a European digital library of manuscripts and scarce historical documents have been established
Our company's role during the course of the project was that of technical co-ordinator, contributing to the development of tools for creating, testing and importing complex digital documents (M-Tool, M-Can), for creating virtual collections and virtual documents, for data conversion testing (EGE - ENRICH Garage Engine) and for working with non-standard characters (Gaiji Bank). Manuscriptorium has also converted from the platform based on the MASTER+ standard to the more advanced TEI P5.
18 major partners from 11 countries participated in the project. A further 39 associate partners subsequently expressed an interest in participating, of whom 15 are now fully integrated.
Current figures demonstrate the success achieved:
approximately 100 contributing Manuscriptorium partners from 22 countries,
250 thousand catalogue records,
37 thousand fully digitised documents,
4.5 million images.
